American Legion post to meet on Saturday

Londagin-Hardcastle American Legion Post 159 of Gentry will host its monthly meeting on Saturday, April 20, in the Gentry Activity Center (121 E. Main Street). Bring a sack lunch and join post members for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. The general business meeting will start at noon. All honorably discharged and currently serving war veterans are invited to attend. If you are serving or have served as a Reservist or National Guard member and spent one day on active duty (with orders), you are eligible to join the American Legion. Come and learn about the world's largest Veterans Service Organization.

Highfill Arbor Day Spring Tree Giveaway

Highfill will hold its Arbor Day Spring Tree Giveaway on Friday, April 19, from 8 a.m. until the trees are gone in the Highfill City Park.

Tired Iron to hold spring show this month

The bi-annual Tired Iron of the Ozarks antique engine and tractor show is set for Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, at the club's showgrounds, 13344 Taylor Orchard Road in Gentry. The show features old tractors and engines, a working sawmill and blacksmith's shop, a swapmeet, and displays, demonstrations, and a parade of power each noon. The event will be held rain or shine. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission and parking are free.

NAGS to meet on April 22

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 22, at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 South Main Street in Bentonville. Joshua Youngblood, from Special Collections at the University of Arkansas Libraries, will give an overview of the records, indexes, newspapers, and local history books available to genealogists researching in Arkansas. The public is welcome.

Bethel Cemetery Cleanup

A work day will be held at Bethel Cemetery, south of Gravette, on Saturday, May 4, beginning at 9 a.m. Workers are asked to bring the necessary tools for cemetery cleanup. A potluck lunch will be held at noon.

Gentry citywide cleanup set for May 11-12

Gentry's annual citywide spring cleanup is set for Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, with the tree giveaway at 8 a.m. and household hazardous waste collection from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday only. Items may be brought to the city park on the north side of Main Street. Up to four tires and two electronic items per household may be recycled.

Gentry to hold Gentry's leaf and limb cleanup

Gentry's leaf and limb cleanup is set for May 13-17. To ensure pickup, leaves and tree limbs should be placed curbside by 8 a.m. on May 13. All leaf waste must be bagged.

Gentry Food Pantry open on Tuesdays

GFA Pantry, located at the Gentry Assembly, 821 East Main Street in Gentry, is open every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clients are asked to call or text 662-727-5157 for an appointment or email [email protected]. They will receive meat, dairy, fresh produce, canned and boxed goods, and occasionally household/cleaning products. Clients may park in the parking lot and enter the building to get signed in and receive their goods. Each family can come once a month. There are no restrictions based on where a client lives.

Friends of Library book sales planned

Friends of the Gravette Public Library book sales will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Friends book sale room, 407 Charlotte Street S.E. (old library building). Enter through the east door.

Radio Club holds Thursday meetings

The Bella Vista Area Radio Club holds monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at ALETA, the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy. All radio amateurs and others interested in acquiring an FCC license are invited. The meeting location is at 3424 S. Downum Road in Springdale. FCC License exams are administered at 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month at the Bella Vista Police Department at TowneCenter and also at 10 a.m. at the Springdale Museum of Ozark History. Sulphur Springs Library open

The Sulphur Springs Library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The library has more than 7,000 items available for checkout, including books, audiobooks, DVDs, games and puzzles. Membership is free for anyone with a Benton County address.

Kiwanis Meetings held Fridays

Gravette Kiwanis Club meetings are held at 7 a.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month in the annex building next to the cafeteria at Ozarks Community Hospital and are open to the public. Members are asked to park in the back parking lot and enter through the back door. Breakfast will be provided.

Sulphur Springs Museum to open

The Sulphur Springs Museum is open on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gravette Lions Club meets Tuesdays

Gravette Lions Club meets at 12:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Lunch is available. Visitors are welcome.
